What Else You Need to Know:

1. All property owners should be aware that the deadline to appeal this year’s value (2011 value) is also April 2, 2012. There is no informal appeals process if you are appealing the 2011 value only.

2. If you wish to appeal both the current value (2011 value) and the new value (2013 value), you must file 2 separate property tax appeal forms.

3. If you have a pending tax appeal for 2012 or earlier, at any level, and wish to also appeal the new 2013 value, you must file a separate property tax appeal form.

4. Commercial property owners who own property assessed in excess of 1 million dollars may by pass the administrative level at the Office of Property Assessment and request that their case be immediately transferred to the County Board of Viewers. There may be advantages and disadvantages of filing this request.
