Where a Fayette County Case Is Filed

A lawsuit over an injury that happened in Fayette County is often filed in:

Court of Common Pleas of Fayette County
Fourteenth Judicial District of Pennsylvania
Fayette County Courthouse
61 East Main Street, Uniontown, PA 15401

Pennsylvania’s venue rules decide which county a lawsuit belongs in. In general, a case can be filed in the county where the injury happened (the place where the “cause of action arose”). It may also be filed where an individual defendant can be served, or where a business defendant has its main office or regularly does business. Medical malpractice cases follow the same general venue rules as other cases; the special malpractice venue rule was rescinded effective January 1, 2023. Choosing the right court is one of the first decisions we make with you.

Crashes on Fayette County Roads

Fayette County’s main routes include Route 40 (the National Road), Route 119, Route 43 (the Mon–Fayette Expressway) and Route 51. In 2025, PennDOT designated a stretch of Route 40 in Wharton Township as a highway safety corridor.

After a crash: get medical care, call the police, photograph the scene and vehicles, and keep every bill and insurance letter. See our car accident, truck accident and motorcycle accident guides.

Hospitals and Medical Care

Hospitals in the county include Uniontown Hospital, at 500 West Berkeley Street in Uniontown, and Penn Highlands Connellsville, at 401 East Murphy Avenue in Connellsville. Many Fayette County patients are also treated at hospitals in Pittsburgh.

Naming a hospital here is for orientation only. It does not suggest that any hospital or provider did anything wrong. Most care is good care; a malpractice case exists only when care falls below accepted standards and causes harm.
