Where a Beaver County Case Is Filed

A lawsuit over an injury that happened in Beaver County is often filed in:

Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County
Thirty-Sixth Judicial District of Pennsylvania
Beaver County Courthouse
810 Third Street, Beaver, PA 15009

Pennsylvania’s venue rules decide which county a lawsuit belongs in. In general, a case can be filed in the county where the injury happened (the place where the “cause of action arose”). It may also be filed where an individual defendant can be served, or where a business defendant has its main office or regularly does business. Medical malpractice cases follow the same general venue rules as other cases; the special malpractice venue rule was rescinded effective January 1, 2023. Choosing the right court is one of the first decisions we make with you.

Crashes on Beaver County Roads

Beaver County’s main routes are I-376 (the Beaver Valley Expressway), Route 65 along the Ohio River, Route 51, Route 18 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Truck traffic, highway merges and river-town main streets all produce serious crashes.

Whatever the road, the early steps matter: medical care, a police report, photographs, witness names and keeping every insurance letter. Read our car accident and truck accident guides.

Hospitals and Medical Care

The hospital in Beaver is AHN Beaver Hospital – Heritage Valley, at 1000 Dutch Ridge Road. Many Beaver County patients are also treated or transferred to hospitals in Pittsburgh.

Naming a hospital here is for orientation only. It does not suggest that any hospital or provider did anything wrong. Most care is good care; a malpractice case exists only when care falls below accepted standards and causes harm.

No. We have one office, at 434 Beaver Street in Sewickley. We represent Beaver County clients from there, and you can start by phone, text or our contact form.

Where would my Beaver County case be filed?

Often in the Court of Common Pleas of Beaver County, at the courthouse at 810 Third Street in Beaver. If a defendant is based in or regularly does business in another county, such as Allegheny, venue may also be proper there. We will talk through the choice with you.

How long do I have to bring a claim?

In Pennsylvania, most personal injury, medical malpractice and wrongful death claims must be filed within two years (42 Pa.C.S. § 5524). If a government agency or public employee may be responsible, written notice is generally required within six months (42 Pa.C.S. § 5522). Exceptions can shorten or extend these deadlines, so call us early rather than late.
