Flaherty Fardo Rogel & Amick is proud to announce that Quaker Valley senior Bruce Anderchak is the recipient of the 2026 Flaherty Fardo / Quaker Valley Wrestling Scholarship. Bruce receives the full $1,000.00 award.

The scholarship goes each year to a graduating Quaker Valley wrestler who shows the ability to handle adversity, both on the mat and in life. Bruce has done both, and he has done it at the highest level.

Quaker Valley's all-time wins leader

On February 21, 2026, at the WPIAL Class 2A championships at Chartiers Valley, Bruce pinned his opponent in 37 seconds for his 152nd career victory. That win made him Quaker Valley's all-time leader in career wins, passing the record of 151 wins set by Jack Kazalas, the firm's 2024 scholarship recipient.

His head coach, Austin Heinl, put it simply to TribLive: "In my eyes, he is just that tough."

Over four varsity seasons, Bruce:

  • Finished his career with 157 varsity wins against 35 losses, according to PA-Wrestling.com
  • Reached the WPIAL finals three times
  • Won three section championships
  • Medaled three times at the Southwest Regional tournament
  • Served as a varsity captain for three seasons, beginning as a sophomore

Wrestling through adversity

Bruce's record is even more impressive given what it took to build it. As a junior, he was injured in the WPIAL semifinals. Rather than shut his season down, he chose to compete at the Southwest Regional tournament the following week, in significant pain, and came from behind in two matches he needed to win. Surgery and months of rehabilitation followed. He came back as a senior and set the school record.

In his application, Bruce wrote that wrestling taught him "there are the things worth fighting for with everything you have." His coaches and mentors describe a young man who leads by example: on time, prepared, coachable, and consistent no matter the opponent.

Just as strong in the classroom

Bruce has been on the Quaker Valley Honor Roll all four years of high school, is a member of the National Honor Society and was named to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic First Team in 2025.

Next stop: Mercyhurst University

Bruce has signed to continue his academic and athletic career at Mercyhurst University, where he will wrestle at the Division I level. He plans to earn his degree and stay involved in the sport as a coach or official.

Congratulations, Bruce. Everyone at Flaherty Fardo Rogel & Amick is proud to recognize you, and we look forward to following your career at Mercyhurst.

About the Scholarship

No sport teaches student athletes how to handle adversity more than wrestling. Noah Fardo established the Flaherty Fardo / Quaker Valley Wrestling Scholarship in 2019. Each year, a $1,000.00 scholarship is awarded to one or more graduating Quaker Valley senior wrestlers who demonstrate the ability to handle adversity both on the wrestling mat and in life, as shown by their own personal statements and letters of recommendation from coaches and teachers.

Flaherty Fardo Rogel & Amick, LLC continually supports local youth and high school athletics in the Quaker Valley and Avonworth communities.
